I have never been so happy to be blogging another wedding! After an 8 month break of weddings due to the pandemic I FINALLY got to get behind the camera and oh lordyyyy was this a good one! Katie & Ryan were the first couple of mine to postpone when the pandemic hit back in April 2020. A year and two postponements later, they finally got to have their special day, just in time to celebrate their one year wedding anniversary! These two tied the knot in their living room via zoom on their original wedding date but have been waiting an entire year to celebrate. Katie’s wedding dress staying hidden in the closet until they were able to have the day they’d been dreaming of.
Although it wasn’t exactly as they pictured, I would argue that it was even better than their plan A. To top off the theme of chaos the past year has given these two, I received a text from their wedding planner Katie of Social Grace Events that news just broke that they had officially sold the Carnegie Institution for Science and this would be the very last wedding this space would hold! At least we were going out with a bang with these two!
Katie & Ryan celebrated their love by having an intimate day with only 10 people total, just their close family. They began the day getting pampered and glammed up, sipping on champagne, and hanging out before the festivities began. Since these two already tied the knot a year ago, they opted to just use the entire day as a photoshoot and end the evening with an intimate dinner under the rotunda with a string quartet. So needless to say this blog post it 90% portraits, woooo!
Katie & Ryan, I’m so honored to have been able to capture your love and you both finally got to celebrate the day you’ve been waiting for! Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Whorton!!! Enjoy some of my favorites from their intimate day!
Time for the first looks! Cue the tears in 3…2…1…
We drove around in the madness of DC determined to get some cherry blossom shots, and we were lucky enough to find the most perfect spot!
Loved hanging out with this gang all day!
We even headed to the exact spot we did their engagement session 2 years ago almost to the day!
Can we get a round of applause for how gorgeous Katie looked!!!
I’m sorry, is this the royal family or what?!
Time for the room reveal!
When you finally get to see your vision come to life after years of waiting… and yes I was also crying behind my camera.
They ended the night by the fireplace, listening to some funny ad libs and speeches, and a dance circle to close out the night.
Congratulations Katie & Ryan!
A HUGE thank you to the amazing team who made this day happen!
