So with all this snow that has been happening on the East Coast, I’ve been taking a lot of time to plan new and exciting things for my business. Being snowed in can either be a blessing, or a curse. It all depends what you do with it! Now don’t get me wrong, I have done my fair share of lounging on the couch all day in my PJ’s eating junk food until the sunsets…yikes! But there was still times where I sat down with my laptop and brainstormed ideas of what I could do with this time off in order to improve my business. So here are 5 things that you can do for your business while snowed in!
1. Create/refresh your bridal guide
This is such an awesome thing to do when you’re snowed in! This give your something to dedicate all your off time too, while still creating something that is going to wow your clients! Me personally, I don’t have a very detailed bridal guide (yet 😉 ) So I decided to go through all of my senior and engagement guides and give them a little refresh!
2. Clean out your work space
Okay so I may not have totally done this one… but I cleaned up my beauty space, does that count? Either way going through your things and getting to do a good purge always feels so good! Not to mention it gives you a fresh, clean environment to sit down at your desk and crank out your work!
3. Update your website
Give your website a little refresh! Think, when was the last time you added new photos to your website? And it doesn’t even have to be “new” photos! Go back through some of your past sessions or weddings, and reedit some of your favorites! That way you have “new” material to include on your website!
4. Organize your emails
YOU GUYS! I cannot tell you how many spam emails I was getting each and every day! It was driving me nuts! Not matter how many times I “unsubscribed” from email subscriptions, they kept coming back! So I’d like to introduce you to my friend unroll.me !!! Okay I may admit that I might be late on this band wagon, but if you don’t have it, GET IT! It’s a free service that allows your to truly unsubscribe from email subscriptions AND it does this awesome thing where if you don’t want to unsubscribe from a service but you don’t want to get the emails all day long, they will collect all those emails and send you one big email called a Roll Up with all of those emails in it! DOESN’T THAT SOUND AWESOME?!?!
5. Come up with something new
With all the time off you have on your hands, you know while the kids are out playing in the snow and you have that one hour of quite time! Think about your business as a whole, and I mean really think. Now, what’s missing? Think of new and exciting things to include in your business. That could be anywhere from starting a new blog series or adding something new to your client experience! There are SO many things you could add to your business. And if you’re stuck and can’t think of anything, ask a friend! Ask them how they would describe you, or what they think your hobbies besides photography are, or if they were a client what would they want in an experience?
I hope you guys enjoyed this quick little blog post and it gives you some inspiration! Over my snow days I have come up with some BIG things that are going to be happening to Erika Lynn Photography in the near future! So make sure you keep a close eye out! Enjoy your productive snow day! XOXO
