When I first started my business I had NO idea where it was going to lead me to. All I knew what that I loved to take pictures and wanted to make myself a career out of it. Looking back on it, if you were to ask me 2 years ago when I started my business if I would ever teach other photographers I would have said “oh hecccccck no!” That’s right. For those of you who know me, you probably think I’m a pretty outgoing person who loves to meet new people and have exciting conversations! That is TOTALLY true, I love people! But there is a side to me that not many of you know. I actually really struggle with social anxiety. I hate being in big crowds of people, I’m always nervous around new people, & I HATE (I mean REALLY hate) being the center of attention IN ANY WAY!
But surprisingly enough I LOVE mentoring! Something about being one-on-one with a photographer that has been in the exact same shoes that I was in is one of he most comforting feelings for me. There is no intimidation and there is no anxiety. When I first started photography I had SO many questions. I mean like SO many, but I didn’t know anyone who I could reach out to to ask my questions. That is exactly why I wanted to offer mentoring to other photographers! There is nothing that feels better to me then hugging someone goodbye and knowing that I helped them in some way!
I 100% believe that investing in education is the BEST way you can improve your business. I have invested so much into education myself because I know the impact it can have on a business! Mentoring sessions are awesome because they are totally personal. You basically have full control over what you want to talk about & learn! Mentoring sessions are meant to be molded to you and your needs as a photographer. If I were to give a photographer only one time, that would be to invest in education. Big or small, education WILL help improve your business and WILL help put you on the path for your success!
