Happy Monday y’all!!! Okay so I know I missed last Makeup Monday 🙁 But I promise you I had a good reason! I was attending the incredible Katelyn James Photography Workshop! AHHHHHHH! Oh-my-gosh you guys, I could totally just rave all day long about this workshop, but all I am going to say is that if you are a photographer you HAVE to attend this workshop!
Things for Josh and I have been nuts, we are still trying to get on with our every day lives after the passing of our puppy, along with new business ventures, school and whatever else you can think of! Needless to say, we have been STRESSED and life has gotten off its tracks, but we are slowly getting back to our new normal. With that being said, I did not want to miss another Makeup Monday, so I decided to put together a quick blog post in-between classes!
If you are having professional photos done and are debating wether or not investing in professional makeup is worth it, this blog post will help! Over the years of being a photographer, and growing in my skills of makeup, I have developed TONS of tips and tricks for makeup for photos! Everyone wants those gorgeous shots of their eyes popping, and those gorgeous eyelashes (Ugh you know I LOVE the eyelash shots!) But even though you think you may be wearing a lot of makeup, the camera does not always pick that up! I always suggest to all of my clients that they consider getting their makeup professionally done before their shoots because it makes their features pop SO much more! Now I know makeup can be SUPER intimidating! But do not let it! If you are hiring a professional artist, they will know what features to highlight on your face and what features to hide. Makeup artists are trained to make you feel beautiful both inside and out! Here are some images of myself taken by my favorite photographer and best friend 😉 Hope Taylor! In these photos you can see the difference in my facial featured with minimal makeup and with professional makeup!
Can you see the difference?! The ones on the left are from my senior photos, and the ones on the right are just from a quick fun mini shoot! Now do not get me wrong, I LOVE both sets of images. But if I had not invested in professional makeup for my senior photos, I would not have been as happy with them! The artists highlighted all the features on my face that I like and helped hide features that were not my favorite. To the naked eye, did I have a lot of makeup on? The answer is YES. When I walked out of the salon and looked in the mirror, I’m not gonna lie, I was a little scared. But the camera does not show all the heavy makeup, thick eyelashes, and dark lips. It just shows the makeup beautifully highlighting my face! And my senior photos are still my FAVORITE pictures to this date, because I felt so beautiful in them!
Now I understand that senior photos can be expensive, and your budget may not allow for a professional makeup artist so here are a few tips and tricks that I encourage you to try for your photoshoot!:
I hope you guys enjoyed this Makeup Monday! Make sure you comment down below what else you’d like to see! XOXO
