As I’m sitting here thinking about what today’s blog post should be, I look at my calendar and realize what day it is. As of today Josh & I have been together for 16 months, and boy, has it been the most amazing 16 months. It’s funny because I always talk about Josh, thinking that people know our story, but when I sit back and think about it, I have never publicly shared our story. So I thought today was the perfect day to do so.
Josh and I have a bit of a different love story than most people. It is filled with lots of love, crazy jumps, and misunderstood notions. Josh and I met through (& this is embarrassing to say) Twitter. We found each other through mutual interests. I saw that he was a filmmaker and I was taken away with his talent and we shortly began to talk. A few days after that we finally decided to get together and meet. I begged my dad to sign me out of school because I told him I was having a bad day, (but secretly it was so I could go meet Josh, hehe.) When he finally signed me out of school I was excited to meet this mystery filmmaker. That day I had no makeup on, I was wearing leggings and an oversized flannel, but I didn’t even care. I just wanted to meet this boy! We met up at a local restaurant (VA BBQ) to sit down and have some lunch. Well, soon enough that quick lunch turned into an hour lunch.. and then two hours… and then three hours. We sat there and talked to each other for FIVE hours. The time had just slipped passed us, we were so fascinated about each other that the conversation never came to a halt, not even once. When we had realized how long we had been there for we decided it was time to go home but from then on, nothing kept us apart.
For the next few days we saw each other each and every day. We did everything together. And exactly one week after us meeting for the first time, he called me and told me he was at my house but that he needed help with something in his car. When I ran out to the street to his car he emerged with gorgeous pink flowers (in a mason jar of course) and asked me to be his girlfriend! I know, a week of knowing each other sounds crazy!!! But we didn’t care what anyone else thought about it. We knew that we had found something so special. From then on Josh and I were literally inseparable! He came over as soon as he woke up in the mornings and stayed with me until I fell asleep. And every morning I woke up to a had written love note, every morning. (I have a whole box full of them!) I knew that I had met someone who was going to make me happy for the rest of my life.
Now here is where the “not so normal”part comes to play. For a few months, Josh would come back and forth to my house and was practically living there! My father made the generous notion to invite Josh to live with us. You see Josh’s parents found the Lords calling and adopted five beautiful special needs kids from Bulgaria. With Josh already having three biological siblings, the house was a tight fit. My father realized this and told him to welcome himself into our home. Josh now lives with my father and I. Now I know some people may not agree with this arrangement, which is totally fine. Josh has his own room where he stays and we continue to spend every day which each other as we grow as business owners and as people. We love being able to work together on things and help each other through stressful times. Living with Josh is truly a blessing and I look forward for us to get our own place together where he, myself, and our furry baby Hurley can snuggle and watch Netflix for days!
Josh and I both believe that we were brought into each others lives for a reason. We met when times were rough and we have truly picked each other off of our feet! I love Josh with all my heart and I’m so excited for what the future holds for us. Keep your eyes out for a really big a scary announcement on the blog this Friday! eeeeek! XOXO
